Incident Report

An accidental shooting was reported in the northern part of the county. The victim reportedly was handling a .45-caliber firearm with the safety off when he accidentally shot himself in the upper left shoulder. A family member was transporting the victim to the Stephenville ER when Erath EMS, dispatched to the location, intercepted the vehicle on SH108 just south of FM1188. Air Evac out of Mineral Wells was launched, and a landing zone will be set up at the Huckabay School.

• Update 8:04 PM:Air Evac has declined transport midflight. Medic 2 will be transporting the patient to Stephenville ER.
• Update 8:19 PM:Cheri Cory Maas More likely the patient's condition did not warrant an air medical response. They did decline after EMS was talking directly to the helo passing along the patient's condition.
